The Sonoran Desert Quilt Project (seen above) was inspired by the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) conservation-focused exhibition Connecting Our Natural Worlds. This accompanying participatory art installation was designed to foster a connection between museum patrons of all ages and the ecology and conservation of the Sonoran Desert.
Original coloring pages were created in Adobe Illustrator. The printed pages were then cut into squares or rectangles to resemble quilt squares. These elements contained either pre-designed images or prompts such as "Draw a desert scene!" to inspire participant creativity. The squares and rectangles were designed to attach to one another creating a quilt-like effect.
